The Allen Bradley 1746-NT4 is a thermocouple module for the SLC 500 modular system. The module occupies one slot in the SLC 500 rack and is used to receive and store digital thermocouple and/or Millivort analog data into its image table for retrievals by the SLC 500 processor. It supports interface to standard thermocouple types; J, K, T, E, R, S, B and N, and supports direct +50 mV and +100 mV analogue input signals. A combination of four thermocouple sensors or mV analogue sensors and can be used at any one time.

The AB 1746-NT4 features a removable terminal connection block which enables faulty modules to be easily interchanged. The terminal block also provides connection for four thermocouples and/or analog input devices. There are also two, cold junction compensations (CJC) sensors to compensate for offset voltages introduced into the input signal as a result of the cold junction. Configuration of the module is done via the user program as there are no DIP switches.

Allen Bradley 1746-NT4

Like most Allen Bradley SLC-500 modules the 1746-NT4 requires no external power supply. The thermocouple module is powered through the SLC 500 Power Supply, which is positioned on the left hand side of the rack housing. The PSU provides a +5V dc and +24V dc supply through the backplane interface which is also used to communicate with the SLC500 processor.
