Here is all you need to know

The Allen Bradley 1771-M3 is a servo controller Module designed the the PLC-2 series of programmable logic controllers .Typical applications for the AB 1771-M3 include; grinders, transfer lines and material handling machines. The module is used in conjunction with the 1771-ES servo expander module to provide control over a single axis. The Servo Controller Module communicates with the Expansion module through the I/O chassis back-plane. You can control more axis by adding more expander modules to your installation - upto three expander modules can be used in a 1770 chassis.

Compatible Processors

The Servo Control Module can be used with a number of different Allen Bradley processors including:

Mini-PLC-2/05 (1772-LS , -LSP)
Mini-PLC-2/15 (1772-LV)
PLC-2/20 (1772-LP2)
PLC-2/30 (1772-Lp3)
PLC-3(1775-L1)

Please note that the 1771-M3 controller requires one I/O Chassis slot which can be installed into any free slot in your rack. The 1771-RS requires 2 slots.

Operator Feedback

Three LED indicator lights located on the front of the unit provide visual status feedback to the operator. These indicators have the following fucntions

Processor Communication Fault - This red indicator turns on when the module detects a fault in the communication between it and the processor.
Expander Communication Fault - This red red turns on when the M3 modules detects a fault in the communication between it and the expander module
Active. This green light indicates the 1771-M3 is active and everything is OK. A flashing light would indicate that the module has not been configured correctly. Is the light is off then a hardware error has occurred.
