The Allen Bradley 1772-LH is a processor interface module from the now obsolete PLC-2 family. It fits into the farthest left slot in the processor chassis. Processor interface modules are used to communicate between the processor, user inputs/outputs and the industrial terminal. 

Each processor interface module has interface sockets, indicators and a mode select switch. The mode select switch allows you to positions:

  • PROG - This is program position and is used when entering program instructions from the programming terminal
  • TEST - This is used to test program operations under simulated operating conditions
  • RUN - The processor scans and executes the user's program that us contained in memory when using this position
  • RUN/PROG - In this position all of the functions that apply in the RUN position also apply in this position
