From the acclaimed Sinumerik 840D solutions range, the Siemens 6FC5210-0DF31-2AA0 is a high performance Sinumerik PCU 50.3-C Industrial PC designed specifically for CNC and complex machine control applications. The PCU 50.3-C features a wide range of communication ports, an ultra fast Intel Celeron M 1.5 GHz mobile processor and Microsoft Windows XP Pro operating system. USB boot support is also supported enabling the 6FC5210-0DF31-2AA0 to boot from USB memory sticks, USB floppy and USB hard drives. This small feature is incredibly useful for the Northern Industrial onsite support engineers who often use this feature to get customers back up and running. Common Faults

Northern Industrial engineers are well versed in the repair of industrial computers and have repaired plenty of 6FC5210-0DF31-2AA0 in the past. Since the Sinumerik PCU 50.3-C is essentially a standard PC in an industrial case, it suffers from the same issues as a standard desktop top PC.

• Hard drive failure is the most common issue and one of the hardest to solve. We always recommend that you take advantage of the USB features and create a ghost of your hard drive. This makes things a lot easier when your hard drive fails.
• Power supply problems are also common. The electrolytic capacitors found within the internal power supply are prone to drying out and going short.
• Fan failure. Dirt and dust from the industrial environment can cause fans to cease, preventing the cooling of temperature sensitive internal components. We recommend running a vacuum across the fans every couple of months and building the process into your preventative maintenance schedule.
• Processor faults are usually related to overheating. Sometime the processor becomes detached from the pads and therefore requires reballing using our BGA machine.
