The Siemens 6GF1710-3AA is a compact stand alone image processing system for automatic inspection, production monitoring and part recognition. The part is more commonly referred to as the Simatic VS 710 and thanks to its compact design and PROFIBUS DP networking capabilities can be found installed in high volume bottling plants, automatic assembly systems and production lines. Some of the applications are very interesting for example the 6GF1710-3AA can be used to detect the presence, position, dimensions, shape, contour and surface of parts on a production line. In a bottle plant the VS710 can be used to check levels in bottles or inspect labels for bottle sorting.
