Here is all you need to know
The Siemens 6ES5308-3UC21 links the PROFIBUS-DP to the CPUs in the Simatic S5-115U, S5-135U and S5-155U programmable controllers. The module is frequently referred to as the IM 308-C in the Siemens literature and provides:
- Large address space (up to 13,300 bytes in all for input, outputs and diagnostics data, for addressing with FB IM308C)
- Baud rates from 9.6 kbaud to 12 Mbaud
- Freeze and Sync control commands
- usable as DP master and/or DP Slave
The module is the direct replacement for the 6ES5308-3UC11 which is also referred to as the IM308-C. The new IM 308-C no longer permits programming of 12V memory cards. If you need this functionality, Northern Industrial is still able to provide these units.

Please note that the refubished IM 308-C is not supplied with a 5V memory card.
If you try to program a 12 V memory card in a the 6ES5308-3UC21 with product version 1 and higher, the CPU and the IM 308-C will enter STOP mode. The "IF" LED will light up on the IM 308-C.
