Fanuc are a multinational corporation headquartered in Japan. They began in 1972 as a spin-off from Fujitsu, specialising in numerical control and servo systems. The name Fanuc is an acronym for factory automation numerical control. As part of Fujitsu, the Fanuc division developed the first successful NC for the Japanese private sector. They continued to develop NCs until 1972 when the division became independent from Fujitsu and began developing robots alongside their NC and CNC machines.
